Kick up Your Feet and Catch Your Breath. You are Welcome here.
Hi. I'm Kristen.
I'm a wife, a mother, a writer and a New Yorker. Our family moved to the city to be a light in our culture, to live and serve and carve out a haven in a harried metro center. And so, I light candles, homeschool my babies and cultivate deep roots and relationships a world away from our home town. I find ways to make home beautiful in our urban landscape, invite others in, cook yummy food and love on the people of our city. I adventure daily, drink buckets of tea, and pour over art and poetry and Pinterest. But, I've been a cave- dweller too, hiding in dark places, alone and afraid. I've lived in the place where life seemed hollow and ugly, but every fiber of my being longed to bathe in beauty and light.
On the battlefield of my own soul, God wooed me with loveliness, with the glory of my true home and my true self. He sang over me and the melody of my life changed forever:
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with singing." -Zephaniah 3:17
I'm convinced that when we hunt for beauty, we find the One who is beautiful. Sometimes we need to embark on that journey with a fellow traveler to hold our hand. So, this blog is an offering of grace for the weary, for the parched, for wanderers and dreamers, for those with messy hearts. For women so dry, the ache in your bones seems to crush. For those who need to know that someone has lit a candle in your darkness, in your own hard day or season. Its a place to breathe deep and drink in light.
This is where we gather beauty together, one billowy feather at a time.

I know Great Hope is perching on your heart, belting out a wild number, but that like me, there are days when you just need to be reminded of the chorus. Let's Sing Together?
